Faculty requests for new hardware and software should be directed to the department chair. Requests are prioritized by the department chair and forwarded to the Dean's office. CIT offers consultation on technical issues related to potential purchases.
Please note that ITS does not purchase departmental-specific software for use in the instructional computer classrooms or desktop computers. As noted above, requests for departmental-specific software should be directed to the department chair.
Purchases For Personal Use Some vendors make equipment available for purchase at the same price as that offered to the University. Faculty and staff interested in the purchase of computers for personal use may contact CIT for current information on vendors. Faculty purchasing equipment for personal use must do so directly from the vendor. Please note that ITS personnel will only support equipment with state tag numbers owned by the University. Site-Licensed Software Some site-licensed software is available for professional use through ECSU negotiated contracts. Some of the software on these contracts may be available to faculty for home use on personally owned computers. Eastern has entered into software distribution contracts with Microsoft, Apple, and Network Associates. McAfee Antivirus is also available to students. They can obtain a disk by visiting Webb 410 and swiping their ID card at the front desk.
